Attorney Elizabeth LaCosse - Qualifications

With offices in Menominee and Escanaba, Beth Lacosse is one of the most experienced criminal defense lawyers in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She is a 1991 graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she received the honor of Cum Laude. She was elected and served as the county prosecutor in Ontonagon, and Ms. LaCosse was also Delta County Chief Assistant Prosecutor. She has served on the board of directors for the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) and was recently promoted to become one of the organization's office holders. Ms. LaCosse is also a 2007 graduate of the CDAM Trial College.

Ms. LaCosse has handled hundreds of jury trials, motions and evidentiary hearings. She has appeared on Court TV and A&E Network's "American Justice." Ms. LaCosse was lead counsel in an infamous murder case that occurred in Ontonagon County. A book entitled "The Sweater Letter" was written by Dave Distel of Los Angeles about that landmark case.
